Long associated with the Cretan Diet, one ounce of Sunflower seeds (L. Elianthus anuus) contain half of an adult's daily intake of Vitamin E, one of the best anti-oxidants. Why is this important? Because Vitamin E keeps your skin alive, vibrant and youthful by combatting the powerful UV sunlight found in Crete, Greece and Cyprus. Vitamin E is found in the very high content of polyunsaturated oil contained in each seed. This is known for the easing of Arthritic pain in the joints, for instance. The oil also lubricates the walls of the intestine. By doing so the oil absorbs the toxins found in the digestive tract and flushes them out. Other anti-oxidants such as calcium, selenium, magnesium and copper keep the body's energy flow, well flowing. Taken as a snack the seeds are a great dietary supplement with all its detox capabilities that scour the liver. The vibrant yellow Sunflowers are grown over most of Greece, especially Crete.
