If you are in the #Greek capital on September 26  then a heads up on the fun day in #Athens when the British Council, as a member of EUNIC (the European Union National Institutes of Culture) in Greece, invites you to participate in this year’s European Day of Languages festivities at Klafthmonos Square in the heart of the city between 10.00 to 15.00….more

It is a great family day for both kids and parents and others to join in a multilingual festival of song, dance, storytelling and interactive games, as well as a treasure hunt with a prize draw every hour. All this to promote the importance of us being more competent in more than one language. Of course in Greece many residents are already speakers of several languages especially English, French and German apart from their native Greek. Fostering greater interest and use of languages is the objective of this annual festival which takes place right across Europe.  Organisers: the Council of Europe and the European Commission through national Education Ministries in the countries participating. The British Council represents the "English" language learning opportunities at Klafthmonos Square during the festival.

Please note: This year, 2015 - there is also a free online quiz open until September 13. Get involved, -->> see how to here

Note: Nearest #Athens Metro station to Klafthmonos Square is Panepistimio, right in the heart of Athens. Many classic buildings and national institutions in the area including the Numismatic Museum. A stones throw away from the square, the museum is open on Saturdays and sports a charming coffee shop with many plants as decoration from around Greece.  A great place to rest and relax with both indoor and outdoor seating and your kids in tow.
