>“It was a great honour and pleasure to present my credentials today to the President of the Republic. The British and the Greek people are partners and friends. Through the challenges we both face, I look forward to strengthening our relations, promoting economic, education and cultural links, and to supporting British people who visit or live in Greece.”

>Mr Kittmer studied Classics at Cambridge and Oxford universities and Modern Greek Studies at King College. He is accompanied by his civil partner, David Bates, who works for the OECD in Greece.

Brits in Crete congratulates Mr Kittmer on his posting, and look forward to his supporting the British community not only in Crete but across Greece especially on animal welfare issues. This is a topic that many British expat residents feel strongly about. Crete has its fair share of registered charities in the field of rescuing dogs, cats, donkeys and even wild birds.
