Brits In Crete: The Joy of Moon Gazing
Phases of the Moon 2008
"Crete Through the Telescope "
Ex-patriates living in Crete are so fortunate ( and much of the rest of Greece) to have such clear night skies for much of the year to observe the Moon . The reason: the skies are mostly pollution free, that means free from air particulates, and, except in Crete's main city, Heraklion, the bright street lighting.
Both forms of pollution would otherwise obscure the Moon from a clear view.
We are truly spoiled across the whole island of Crete.
We welcome shots-- by professionals or amateur photographers alike, as seen through the telescopic lens.
Eclipses During Second Half of 2008

- Brits in Crete has SPECIAL PERMISSION of NASA for this re-publishing of information. Algorithms used in predicting the phases of the Moon as well as eclipses are based on Jean Meeus' Astronomical Algorithms (Willmann-Bell, Inc., Richmond, 1991). All calculations are by Fred Espenak, GSFC Planetary Systems Laboratory and he assumes full responsibility for their accuracy. The Planetary Systems Laboratory is located at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland 20771, USA.
It is said that at Full Moon people can go mad or grow hair. Well in that same vain, if you are game for a challenge there is nothing more absurd nor fascinating than our Most Stupid Puzzle - Give it a try, NOW! .........
