British Passport cover Changed Contact Info for the British Consulate in Crete.

Brits in Crete has been informed that the British Vice Consulate located in Candia Tower, Thalita Street Heraklion has revised opening hours for us, the general public for the usual consular services. To note, you can make telephone enquiries Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 15:00 hrs. If you dial the usual number 2810 224012, in fact it goes to Athens and then is re-directed to Heraklion. Now if you want to make an appointment, that is down to a choice of just three days - Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 09:00 and 13:00 hrs. There is more…..

In simplest terms I just hope when help is needed that the Crete consular staff continue to step up as they have done gallantly for many years. I just don't know why visits to the Heraklion office except in an emergency should be restricted to just three days of the week? I found the previous arrangement for walk in traffic extremely convenient. Why should they want to stop that? Doesn't it defeat the new mission statement of the ambassador  in Athens and his team at British Consulates around Greece, which says:

"the mission of the Consular services is to implement the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's (FCO)  priorities for security, prosperity and protecting British citizens, strengthening the close ties between the UK and Greek Governments and the deep roots of friendship between the British and Greek peoples.

Get driving instructions if you do not have satnav or are using the bus to get to the Consulate you can check the location by our Directions to British Consulate.

To see how the actual location of Candia Tower looks like so you know when you are in the right location among the maize of narrow streets in the area, please view the page for British Contacts
